“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

About Us

The Elm Creek Canadian Reformed Church, inaugurated on September 4, 2022, is a vibrant and welcoming congregation nestled in the charming community of Elm Creek, Manitoba. Our church was established to accommodate the growing number of congregants from the neighboring Carman West and Carman East churches, which had outgrown their buildings. Recognizing the significant number of members residing in the Elm Creek area, we saw an opportunity to better serve our community by creating a new church home here.

Elm Creek, known for its rich agricultural heritage and close-knit community spirit, provides an ideal setting for our congregation to flourish. We are dedicated to fostering faith, fellowship, and service within Elm Creek and beyond, inviting all to join us in worship and community activities.

Meet our Pastor

Hello there! My name is Pastor Dathan Pleiter. It is my joy and privilege to be the preaching elder of the Elm Creek Canadian Reformed Church. Standing by my side is my friend, companion, and wife, Katrina. We met while I was pursuing my theological studies at the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary and were married soon after.

We are delighted that you have found our website and are eager to learn more. Feel free to explore our website to discover more about our Church. We want you to know that you’re invited to be part of everything we do as church – from events, to fellowship, and most importantly to worship! We’re glad you’re here and would love for you to join us in worshiping our great God and Saviour!

"A blessed company of imperfect, weak, but faithful people - of all ages and walks in life. Joined together in faith. A church, united in one body, heart, and mind, washed by the blood of Christ and renewed by His Spirit."

Inaugurated September 4, 2022

In the afternoon service of September 4th, we gathered together for the first time as a newly founded congregation. There was a feeling of excitement in the air as church members and visitors filled the pews for the very first time. We were very thankful to be able to use the St. Andrews United Church building. (at the time we were in the process of finalizing the purchase of the building).

The inaugural service was led by Pastor Slaa, who welcomed us to this historical event and opened the service by quoting Psalm 150:1,2 and 6. The sermon was on Matthew 16:8. The theme being: “Jesus Christ will build His Church.”

It should be our prayer that we are a gathering of believers like Simon Peter. A blessed company of imperfect, weak, but faithful people – of all ages and walks in life. Joined together in faith. A church, united in one body, heart, and mind, washed by the blood of Christ and renewed by His Spirit. And that despite Satan’s attempts to tear down what God has built up, despite setbacks and trials that we as a new, young congregation are bound to face, we can be comforted knowing Satan will not prevail. We do not have to be afraid; nothing can ruin the new creation of Jesus Christ
